Southern Stars includes Kindergarten Readiness in the curriculum for our older students who are preparing to attend Kindergarten.

Our Kindergarten Readiness Program is designed with the individual child in mind, to prepare him or her to successfully enter school and joyfully manage the “Job of Kindergarten.” Our Montessori/STEM-based foundation helps your child to improve concentration, enhance their desire to learn, instills greater self-confidence, and promotes wider creativity.

This program includes:

• Phonetic learning and development of pre-reading/reading skills
• Basic math skill enhancements
• Writing utensil control and use

We will focus on all the skills your soon-to-be elementary student will need to be successful, all while having fun!

It’s hard for any child to sit and concentrate on a task they aren’t interested in–especially when that task involves filling out a worksheet or completing another educational assignment they don’t understand or have no interest in. Self-paced learning encourages children to proceed at their unique pace, rather than sticking to one arbitrarily created by the teacher and based around all of the students in the classroom.

Pursuing their personal interests in the Montessori classroom will teach your child how to better engage with all of their work, building their passion and giving them the tools they need to pursue it more deeply.
